BMW’s superstar M3 GTS is taken by a spin by Fifth Gear’s star Vicki Butler-Henderson. If there was any doubt that the M3 GTS is the “Ultimate BMW”, then this video will set it straight forever.
But, even it it’s a fascinating and very fast car, Ms. Butler-Henderson is having a hard time choosing between the M3 GTS and the cheaper Porsche 911 GT3 RS, another fascinating car. In the UK, the BMW M3 GTS costs 118,000 British Pounds, nearly 10,000 more than the Porsche.
The limited edition M3 GTS went on sale last summer and sold out prior to its market launch. The 150 units went to private owners, racing companies or tuners. Thanks to an increase in engine displacement and some fine-tuning to the engine, the BMW M3 GTS produces 450 horsepower. The core of the development was the landing gear, based on the BMW M3 GT4 and transposed into a street-legal vehicle.
In addition to a larger and more powerful V8 engine, exclusive tuning of the 7-speed M Dual Clutch Transmission with Drivelogic and modified suspension technology.
The BMW M3 GTS accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in a mere 4.4 seconds. The car reaches the 1000 metre mark from a standstill in just 22.5 seconds. Top speed is 305 km/h.
