In 2012 BMW will refresh their top-seller BMW 3 Series. The F3x platform will replace the existing E9x models, taking BMW design and technology into an era.
Early prototypes of the F31 3 Series Touring/Wagon continue to be covered with the typical BMW camouflage, including the now famous psychedelic tape and fake body panels.
The exterior design continues to remain a mystery, but we expect the new 3 Series to feature a similar design language as the newly launched models.
The next BMW 3 Series models will pay special attention to efficiency, as part of the EfficientDynamics program. Low drag aerodynamics, smaller engines, and high-tech electronics will combine to make the next 3 Series a step above the current car.

One of the new and highly advanced EfficientDynamics technologies to make its way into the next 3 Series will be the “air curtain”. Using a special series of ducts and vents, the system directs air in a manner such that it slips neatly over the wheels, which are normally an area of high turbulence, and therefore energy-sapping drag.
