The BMW Rahal Letterman Racing Team BMW M3 GT Coupes qualified 6th and 7th for Saturday’s American Le Mans at Long Beach event. Bill Auberlen in the No. 92 M3 lapped the 1.968-mile Long Beach street circuit with a best time of 1:20.486, approximately 0.9 seconds from the pole-sitting pace.
Joey Hand was less than a tenth from his teammate’s time with a 1:20.564 best lap in the No. 90 M3.
In his post-qualifying interview, Hand expressed confidence for Saturday’s 100-minute race and provided fascinating insight about today’s qualifying experience.
The American Le Mans Series Long Beach Race will start at 4:40 p.m. PT on Saturday and be televised on SPEED channel beginning at 8:00 p.m. ET.
