Hello, I have a 2001 E46 325i Sport which ticks over at about 600RPM very smoothly, but you have to rev it to at least 1400RPM to pull away otherwise it stalls, its not a major issue but it does make it very tricky to pull away smoothly in first and the first to second change also makes it judder. Other than that the engine runs perfectly. Has anyone got any ideas what could be causing this issue? Thanks I appreciate any help that anyone can give as I haven't got an idea!!
Cheers
Luke

Re: E46 no torque under 1000RPM
Have you checked the VANOS system? This is a variable valve timing and lift mechanism that is supposed to do most of the important work below 3000 rpm. If it fails, it could lead to stalls, loud idling, etc.
There has been an issue with the oil seals drying up internally and rendering the system useless on the E46.
I would start with the VANOS as it may be the problem.
