The E85 Z4 M Coupe was the last of the “Shoe” as it’s affectionately become known as. Making its Debut at the NY International Auto Show in April of 2006, the Z4 based M Coupe shares its underpinnings with the M Roadster, but employs a fixed hard-top roof which yields additional torsional rigidity. 24,000 lb-ft per degree of body twist as compared to 10,700 lb/ft per degree on the roadster.
Powered by a slightly detuned S54B32 from the E46 M3 (315HP vs 333HP) the Z4 M Coupe was capable of lighting fast sprints to 60 MPH but its strong suit was on a road course. The short wheelbase provided crisp handling and the inline 6 provided enough power to force the rear end to come around on command.
Today’s Super Bild is gleaming in Interlagos Blue, a color that first appeared on the E46 M3 competition package and is set against a gorgeous building entrance. The calmness of this night shot is offset by the beast that lies inside waiting to be unleashed.
