Next month, BMW will introduce the U.S. version of the X1 mini-SAV at the 2012 New York Auto Show. The only variant to be offered in the U.S. is the X1 xDrive28i powered by the new N20 2.0 liter four-cylinder TwinPower turbocharged engine. The new unit produces 245 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque (258 lb of torque).
The engine can be mated to a 6-speed manual transmission or a 8-speed automatic transmission.
In the EU test cycle, the BMW X1 xDrive28i runs with 7.9 liters/100 km (an improvement of 1.5 liters), has CO2 emissions of 183 g/km (down by 38g).
Along with the introduction to the U.S. market, BMW will also unveil the latest changes to the X1′s design. As seen on previous spy photos, the mild life cycle impulse brings updates to the front and rear bumpers, as well as the addition of signal indicators in the side external mirrors.
The 2013 BMW X1 will hit U.S. dealerships in September of this year.
