Autocar UK test drives and reviews the Prodrive BMW E30 M3 rally car. The standard BMW E30 M3 was powered by a 2.3-liter engine coupled with a 5-speed transmission that developed at start 195 bhp (145 kW; 198 PS). Later on, BMW increased the engine capacity of the BMW E30 M3 to 2.5-liter and the power output went up to 215 hp (160 kW).
Prodrive had a six-year relationship with BMW and ran the M3 E30 in the World Rally Championship and the British Touring Car Championship. In 1987, Prodrive team took the WRC victory in the Tour de Corse.
