Update: Former employee takes hostage at BMW’s French headqu

Post by bimmermania »

Update: Situation has been resolved without any casualties.

An irate former employee took at least two people hostage on MOnday at the French headquarters of the car company BMW, in Montigny-Le-Bretonneux, a Paris suburb. He surrendered to police without incident.

The hostage-taker was “an armed individual” according to an official at police headquarters in Versailles. He gave himself up without violence after special forces had been deployed to the scene.

French radio Europe 1 reported that the man was a former employee, who took a receptionist and a sales person hostage.

He fired shots into the air, and tried to set the building on fire.

BMW hasn’t released any details on the incident, though it is known that the armed employee was a male in his 50s.
