Exclusive: Design sketches of BMW 6 Series Coupe Concept

Post by bimmermania »

Today, we bring you the first design sketches of the recently unveiled BMW 6 Series Coupe Concept. Designed by Nader Faghihzadeh, very same designer that penned the interior of the latest generation 7 Series, the new 6 Series Coupe is one of the most stunning production-ready BMWs unveiled in the last decade.

In our upcoming interview, Faghihzadeh will explain further the design ideas behind the new 6er, and how it came to life. Drawn under Van Hooydonk’s leadership, the new 6 Series is not only about design, for the first time, technology plays an important role inside and outside the cabin.

The 6 Series joins the new design language at BMW, as seen in the 5 Series, a new design trait that debuted last year with the Z4 Roadster. The enhanced belt lines with the hood creases and lines flowing from the front till the end, are highly visible on the 6er.

The concept is more emotional that the photos described it. The short overhangs and slope lines give the car the distinctive look we came to love in the 6 Series Coupe, a car that emulates perfectly the style and passion of BMW’s chief designer Adrian Van Hooydonk. These lines become even more obvious in these design sketches that show the creativity that went into the design of this car.

Production car launches in 2011 and it will go through very minor changes, different side mirrors and wheels.
