The next generation 2012 BMW 3 Series sedan has been spied once again. The latest video showcases the new 3 Series Sedan going around the Nurburgring race track during a testing session.
The test mule continues to sports the usual psychedelic camouflage that still covers some of the fine design details. The F30 3 Series Sedan identifies itself an evolution of the current E90 bodystyle with design accents from the new 5 Series. BMW insiders describe the new F30 3 Series as a scaled down 5 Series, but with unique lines that will make it distinctive within the BMW family.
First seen on the new 1 Series, the signal indicators have also been placed on the side mirrors. The car also showcases corona rings with full LED treatment which are different from the current generation E90 due to a new design and a “squared” look.
At the back, the 2012 BMW 3 Series brings out a masculine design with a subtle trunk lid and the L-shaped taillights.
For the U.S. market, BMW will offer the usual six-cylinder turbocharged engines, but the new N20 2.0 liter four-cylinder banger will power the entry-level 328i model. A diesel version of the 3 Series sedan will also be included in the U.S. offerings.
No official confirmation on whether the new 3 Series Wagon will make its way to the US.
The 2012 BMW 3 Series Sedan will be unveiled next month with production beginning in November and sales commencing next spring for the US market.
