Video: Upcoming BMW 6 Series Convertible spied in Germany

Post by bimmermania »

LeftlaneNews recently caught the upcoming 2011 BMW 6 Series Convertible during testing trials around Munich.

The new 6 Series Convertible will debut in the U.S. in March of next year and the North American market will also receive a six-cylinder engine in their 6 Series line-up.

As reported before, the upcoming 6 Series is slightly longer and wider than the current generation. It will have shorter overhangs and a lower roofline which implicitly gives the car a more muscular look. The new BMW 6 Series will not be a twin-brother to the highly acclaimed and much missed CS Concept, but some design cues from the recently unveiled Gran Coupe made their way into the final design.

The design lines return to the super sleek look and we expect to see plenty of concave and convex design lines hidden underneath the camo, lines that will enhance the luxurious sporty look of the new 6er.

Inside, many design cues are inherited from the new 5 Series and 7 Series, starting with the multi-functional steering wheel, the instrument clusters and the central dashboard. The major difference comes from the navigation system. The iDrive’s LCD system is not built-in the dash as seen in the current generation, but it is rather placed on top of the dashboard, in an upright position.

The 2011 BMW 6 Series will be unveiled in September at the Paris Motor Show.
