Help needed

Hello everybody!
Im new in this forum and new in the bmw world. Last month i got a used e34 524td bmw. I got it really cheap, but turns out it needed some repairs.
something like 4 days ago, I sent it to a fuel pump specialist, because it was leaking, and as a result I was told it could ruin the rubber holding the motor. I don't know what's the technical name for it. He said the rubber sealings were to be replaced, he opened dhe bonnet under the rain, which was a very discutible decission for me, removed the fuel pump, replaced the rubber sealings and put the pump back in place. Now the car is not performing as before, it takes some time to get up to speed and it takes some time to start the engine.
What could be the major problem he may have caused, am I doing damages driving with the car in this condition?
Thanks
Ermal.
