BMW USA Opens Public Voting for “0 to Desir3 in 5.9 Seconds
One lucky BMW fan is only two weeks away from driving off in a brand new 2012 BMW 3 Series Sedan as the top 30 entrants in the automaker’s “0 to Desir3 in 5.9 Seconds” contest are put up for public vote tomorrow. Voting will officially open via facebook.com/bmwusa and youtube.com/bmwusaon Tuesday, March 27 at 9:00 a.m. EST and close on Monday, April 9 at 11:59 a.m. EST. The winning entrant will be announced on Friday, April 13.
“We were very impressed with the level of creativity and innovation in the submissions,” said Trudy Hardy, Manager, BMW Marketing Communications and Consumer Events. “Much like the BMW 3 Series Sedan, our fans have proven themselves to be real performers.”
The contest asked participants to submit a video running approximately 5.9 seconds – a reference to the time it takes the vehicle to go from 0–60 mph – showing how much they “desire” a new BMW 3-Series Sedan. With more than 2,000 videos submitted, a panel of judges including U.S. Olympic swimmer and gold medalist Natalie Coughlin, world champion professional baseball player Mark Teixeira, and filmmaker Kurt Miller chose 30 of the best entries based on creativity, innovation and uniqueness.
“I’m thrilled to have been one of the judges for BMW’s ‘0 to Desir3 in 5.9 Seconds’ contest,” said Coughlin. “The entries were entertaining, innovative, and very creative. I look forward to seeing who wins – he or she will have earned it.”
“Having produced action adventure films for over 25 years it was fun to see numerous six second commercials that show the same imagination and creative thinking that went into the new BMW 3 Series,” said Miller.
“It was a great experience judging the BMW YouTube contest,” said Teixeira. “It’s evident BMW is a special brand as the contest evoked such creativity and passion from the consumers. I can’t wait to see who wins.”
The contest is a part of the multifaceted creative campaign developed by Kirshenbaum, Bond, Senecal + and designed to support of the launch of the all-new BMW 3 Series Sedan, which debuted at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January.
