O2 sensor missing

Hi guys, tell me something, im trying to locate my 02 sensor on my e36 325i 1993 beemer, its not on the exhaust manifauld, or the exhaust system, no plugs where it should be, nthing, i spoke to the local mackis and they say that some of the beemers dont have them, therefore my q is then how does my beemer sense the air/fuel mixture? ive been through the haynes manual and looked at all the places it should be. im stumped, i know what the o2 sensor looks like, but nothing on my cabbie. Some of the e36 models have 2 and some have 1, however, I've never heard of any not having a senser at all. I would think that they would have to in order to pass inspection. I'll check around and see if I can locate the second one.
