BMW 335is information leaked on the web
Somewhat the cat is out of the bag or it has been for a while now, but further information on the BMW 335is have just surfaced. A internal memo sent to Canadian dealerships reveals some new information on the upcoming 3 Series facelift and the new 335is.
Before we dig in, please keep in mind the bulletin is for the Canadian market and it might slightly be different from the U.S. specs. Production is scheduled to begin in March for the convertible and May for the Coupe. The “is” will be exclusive to the Coupe and Convertible models, and are powered by an upgraded N54 twin-turbo engine developing 322 horsepower, 22 ponies more than the “standard” N54 plant.
In “regular mode”, the engine outputs 332 lb-ft, but an electronically-controlled overboost function can briefly increase torque under full load by another 37 lb-ft bringing the torque peak to 369 lb-ft.
The BMW 335is will also have the option of a 7-Speed Double Clutch ( DCT ) transmission. A new sport exhaust system with black chrome tailpipes will be featured on the sporty 3 Series. Additional upgrades include an extra water cooler, high output cooling fan, all at the expense of the fog lights which have been deleted.Exterior wise, the 2011 BMW 335is features the usual M Sport Package, along with a rear bumper diffuser insert in body color, standard 18″ wheels, kidney grille with high gloss black surround and black bars, and last but not least, mirror caps in high gloss black.
The U.S. official press release is due in exactly a week from today.
