Rumor: BMW to unveil baby roadster at 2011 Geneva Motor Show

Post by bimmermania »

Morning news in the BMW world started with Autoblog reporting on the possibility of seeing a baby roadster at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. Quoting the Australian magazine The Age, the news mention the past rumored BMW Z2, a front-wheel drive roadster that will sit below the Z4.

At the recent launch of the BMW 6-Series Convertible, a spokeswoman confirmed for The Age the new roadster would be the company’s star attraction at March’s Geneva show but refused to go into any detail. Furthermore, BMW insiders are saying the show car will not go into production, but that some design features will be incorporated into future models.

And this brings us to our analysis. The rumored roadster that will debut in Geneva is actually the BMW ConnectedDrive Concept shown in a teaser last month. The car builds atop some of the features from the previous Vision Concept, including the layering design, both inside and outside.

In the video teaser, BMW said the new concept is an “extraordinary vehicle, which will once again revolutionize driving in terms of comfort, infotainment and safety”.

We expect to see some of their latest car-to-car communication features, real-time navigation and the latest sensor technology for accident avoidance.

Stay tuned for exclusive reports from 2011 Geneva Motor Show!Image
